FORMULATION RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Reporting to the Display Systems Project Leader in the Research and Advanced Development Organization, this individual will be a member of a team responsible for developing and formulating "inks" to be used in the next generation electronic paper display platforms that the team is responsible for creating.
Job Responsibilities
- Formulate electrophoretic inks for high performance display applications;
- Effectively apply the latest techniques in dispersion, particle electrical charge control and encapsulation technologies;
- Collaborate with synthetic chemists and colloid scientists to increase understanding of electrophoretic mechanisms
- Expand ink characterization methods to develop tests that predict final ink performance;
- Aid in developing manufacturable routes to practical new pigment formulations and provide guidance to Development, Pilot and Operations to implement improved E Ink products;
- Deliver on project commitments and actively pursue contingency plans;
- Communicate results broadly to E Ink technical staff and become a recognized technical expert on ink formulations;
- Document results in comprehensive technical reports.
Qualifications
- Combination of Technical Degree and industry experience necessary to satisfy job requirements
- 3 - 8 years of industrial experience related to hydrocarbon based toners or inks
- Demonstrated ability to formulate inks/toners for demanding performance requirements
- Must have a track record of successfully bringing new products to market
- Demonstrated knowledge of Design of Experiments
- Must have excellent communication skills including oral presentations and written technical reports
- Understanding of color pigment technology and color science
- Evidence of creativity and inventiveness based on issued US patents
- Team player able to effectively accomplish shared goals
