E Ink® Holdings, "E Ink" (8069.TW), a digital signage and display visionary, announces the addition of a 1.73" flexible display to its Mobius product line of flexible electronic paper display (EPD) technology. The 1.73" display has been specifically engineered for smartwatch and watch applications.

"E Ink displays its strength"

Thursday was a very good day for display screen maker E Ink Corp. of Cambridge. Giant online retailer Amazon.com revealed a new lineup of its Kindle tablet computers and e-readers, including the Kindle Paperwhite, a $119 device built around an illuminated version of E Ink's power-sipping screen. On the very same day, Canadian e-book maker Kobo Inc. rolled out three readers with E Ink screens. Both followed an August release of an upgraded e-book from Japanese electronics giant Sony Corp.

"Hands on with Amazon's new Kindle e-readers"

A year ago, I walked away from Amazon's Kindle event thinking that the e-readers shown off there were merely mild, lazy, and ultimately disappointing refreshes of existing models. That wasn't the case Thursday following the latest round of Kindle unveilings. I had a chance to delve into the new $119 Kindle Paperwhite and its $69 sibling, still simply called Kindle and was impressed by what I saw.
