E INK INTRODUCES NEXT GENERATION OF CUSTOM SEGMENTED DISPLAYS USING E INK VIZPLEX IMAGING FILM

Faster, Brighter, and Higher Line Density Open New Markets for Segmented Electronic Paper Displays

Cambridge, MA, May 23, 2007 - E Ink Corporation, the leading developer and marketer of electronic paper display (EPD) technology, today announced general availability of its next generation segmented display cells (SDC) using the new E Ink Vizplex™ Imaging Film. The SDC products now update twice as fast, are 20% brighter, and offer higher resolutions to support smaller segments and more detailed artwork. The SDC product platform is targeted at custom iconic and alphanumeric displays for a variety of portable electronic devices, PC-accessories, RFID labels, shelf-edge price labels and smart cards.

"Today we are extending the new E Ink Vizplex imaging film to our segmented displays for a significant performance improvement and announcing new tools to ease the integration process for product designers," said Russ Wilcox president and CEO.

"Customers can be rather tough on their USB flash drives, so Lexar needed a display technology that was easy to read, thin, rugged, low power and could survive a demanding temperature stress test. We reviewed and tested several display solutions, and in the end the E Ink segmented display was simply the best solution," said Jarreth Solomon Director of Technology Development at Lexar Media. "Lexar has been very happy with E Ink's display performance and has expanded the line to 7 SKUs across the JumpDrive Mercury and Secure II Plus product lines. We look forward to upgrading our current and future drive solutions with the new Vizplex display technology from E Ink."

SDC products are thin, plastic display cells that show a bright image with ultra-low power consumption. They offer innovative product design possibilities because they are paper-thin and can be cut to virtually any shape. Further, product designers can take advantage of image stability, which enables the image to remain highly legible for over a year without power.

E Ink's segmented technology was selected by Motorola for its ultra-slim Motofone F3 GSM handset, by Lexar for its JumpDrive Mercury and Secure II Plus USB drives with capacity meter, and by Seiko for its sleek luxury line of Electronic Ink watches. All of these products have recently won international awards for breakthrough design and valuable features.

Rapid product development is available with E Ink's custom segmented display sample program. Starting from a customer-supplied CAD file, E Ink typically can supply production-ready samples within six to eight weeks after artwork approval and enter mass production within twelve weeks. E Ink has partnered with several IC developers, including Dialog Semiconductor, Epson, Solomon-Systech, and Citizen who have developed compatible segmented display drivers.

NOTE:
Dialog Semiconductor announced today a new line of ICs designed for compatibility with E Ink Vizplex-based segmented display cells and a custom software tool for rapid prototyping and system development. Please see the company's website www.eink.com for a link.
