Partners To Speak About "Going To Market With Electronic Ink" At DisplaySearch USFPD 2002
Cambridge, MA. - March 11, 2002 – E Ink Corporation, the leading developer and marketer of electronic ink technology for paper-like displays, today announced that Dan Button, vice president of Business Development and Heeday Danjo, Manager of Electronic Paper Business Development of TOPPAN Printing Company will present at this year's DisplaySearch US Flat Panel Display (FPD) Conference. Button and Danjo will participate on the Alternative Display Technology panel and will speak about "Going To Market With Electronic Ink." The panel will be held on March 22 at 1:30 p.m. PT.
The 4th annual US FPD Conference entitled "Strategies for Survival and Prosperity" will feature a record number of presentations from senior executives in the FPD and related industries. The conference will take place March 20-22 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine in San Diego, California.
"Over the past year we have worked closely with TOPPAN to expand our strategic partnership to commercialize electronic paper," said Button. "Our joint participation at DisplaySearch reflects the strength of our relationship and our commitment to bringing ePaper to market." The paper will underscore advances on all fronts -- technology, commercial and manufacturing - towards the first commercial launch of high-resolution electronic ink display products in mid-2003, and outline the expanded role that Toppan will play.
TOPPAN Printing Company, Ltd. is the global market share leader for color filter arrays in the flat panel display industry. TOPPAN recently made a significant expansion of its original $5 million investment in E Ink with an additional $25 million. Under terms of the partnership, TOPPAN will manufacture front plane laminate (FPL) products for E Ink's active matrix graphical displays business using electronic ink supplied by E Ink. TOPPAN also will become E Ink's distributor of the FPL product to Japan-based TFT display makers.
"We think TOPPAN's production expertise in coating, conversion and QA; our sales channels to display manufacturers; and the relationships with over 20,000 clients that utilize paper and computing every day will contribute to the commercialization of E Ink Electronic Paper products, both through manufacturing and application development," says Danjo. "Our strengths well complement E Ink's leading edge technology-the synergy spans a very wide range of activities."
