E INK WINS BEST OF SMALL TECH AWARD FROM SMALL TIMES MAGAZINE

E Ink given award for "successfully ushering the technology out of the lab and into real-world applications".

Cambridge, MA. - November 3, 2005 – E Ink Corporation, the leading supplier of electronic paper display technology, today announced that they received the Best of Small Tech Awards in the company category. The award was presented by Small Times Magazine during it's NanoCommerce conference and tradeshow today in Chicago, Illinois. The purpose of the Small Tech awards is to honor companies and individuals in micro and nanotechnology that have made particularly noteworthy achievements during the previous 12 months.

According to Small Times, the 2005 Best of Small Tech award in the company category was given to E Ink because it, "successfully ushered the technology out of the lab and into real-world applications in recent years, most notably during the last 12 month with a series of persuasive prototypes made in conjunction with industry partners - a clock, a watch, a point-of-sale display - all of which testify that the company is poised to go prime time."

E Ink Corporation's products enable a new type of electronic display with a bright white background and crisp text and pictures similar to printed documents. Once updated, the display can maintain an image without using power, enabling over 90% power savings compared to traditional displays and greatly extending the battery life of portable devices. Some versions are available on plastic and can be flexed and rolled, combining the complete look and feel of a paper document with the versatility of digital control and wireless update.

In addition to an electronic reader device introduced by SONY last year, E Ink's display products are also being used by Vossloh Information Technologies (VIT) in Germany and TOPPAN Printing Co, Ltd. in Japan for providing information in public areas such as rail and bus stations. Currently in field trials, both companies expect to have products on the market later this year. E Ink's Ink-In-Motion™ advertising products are currently available from two of its partners, Neolux Corporation in Korea and Midori Mark in Japan. Ink-In-Motion is an animated electronic display that gives advertisers the proven promotional sales lift of motion displays in a paper-thin, battery-operated package. Most recently Seiko Watch Corporation and Citizen Watch Corporation announced the launch of revolutionary curved products using E Ink's technology before the end of this year.

Small Times unveiled its fourth annual Best of Small Tech Awards Wednesday afternoon at the NanoCommerce & SEMI NanoForum trade show in Chicago. Other winners of the award include Affymetrix, Oxonica and Hewlett-Packard, and notable individual innovators in the field.
