E INK WINS TWO AWARDS AT THE 2012 DISPLAY TAIWAN CONFERENCE

Company Chairman Also Recognized for Contributions to FPD Industry in Taiwan
Cambridge, MA. — June 28, 2012 – E Ink® Holdings, the leading developer and marketer of electronic paper display technologies, today announced that the Company's E Ink Pearl™ has been recognized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan with a Gold Panel award and the Company's Oxide TFT display received an award from the Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association. The winners of these awards were announced last week at the Taipei World Trade Center in Taiwan.
Since 2001, the Gold Panel Awards have recognized and promoted companies in the flat panel display (FPD) industry in Taiwan. E Ink's Pearl display won the "Best Component" award. The Photonics Industry and Technology Development Association (PIDA), established in 1993 to promote photonics technologies of Taiwan, awarded the "Outstanding Photonics Product" to E Ink for its Oxide TFT display. In addition, E Ink Chairman Scott Liu was given the "Outstanding Personnel Award" for his innovative leadership of the company and its development of TFT and ePaper displays, as well as for his contributions to the FPD industry as a whole.
"These awards are a testament to the innovation, discipline and teamwork of our employees," said Liu. "As we continue to research, develop and market the world's leading display technologies, we will continue to strive for these attributes to strengthen our leadership in the ePaper industry."
E Ink Pearl raises the bar for eBook displays with crisp images and text that looks like ink on paper for improved readability, even outdoors in sunlight. It has the whitest reflective display in the industry with a contrast ratio approximately 50 percent greater than previous products. E Ink Pearl is the lowest power display on the market for eBook applications and is also ideally suited for commercial and industrial applications. E Ink Pearl is completely image persistent, requiring no power to hold an image or page of text, and it is also compatible with the latest touch technology solutions. ePaper displays are also a sustainable and socially responsible alternative to paper.
E Ink's Oxide TFTs have high electron mobility, thereby rendering them faster than conventional Amorphous Silicon TFTs. They are also superior to Poly-Silicon TFTs since E Ink's Oxide TFTs use a simpler manufacturing process and require relatively less investment in capital infrastructure equipment. These features make E Ink's Oxide TFT the ideal candidate for next generation display products. E Ink plans to incorporate its Oxide TFT technology to its Electronic Paper Displays that will offer higher resolution, faster page turns in eReader applications and enable entry into newer markets for electronic textbook devices in schools and paperless office environments.
