BILLERICA, Mass., September 25 - E Ink (8069.TW), a pioneer and leading global developer of ePaper technology, announced Flint Paper Battery as the recipient of the 2026 E Ink Innovation Prize. The $100,000 prize was presented during the MIT Solve Challenge Finals in New York City and will support Flint as it advances its sustainable battery technology toward broader commercialization.

Flint Paper Battery developed a water-based, rechargeable battery made with renewable, non-toxic materials. Designed without lithium, nickel or cobalt, the technology is intended to provide a safer and more sustainable alternative to conventional batteries. Flint's paper batteries are recyclable and compostable at the end of their lifecycle, and the company is entering production with applications ranging from consumer electronics and connected devices to larger-scale energy storage.

E Ink established the Innovation Prize with MIT Solve in 2025 to support entrepreneurs developing technology solutions to urgent global challenges. The partnership represents a full-circle connection for E Ink, which was spun out of the MIT Media Lab in 1997. Through the prize, E Ink helps promising teams bridge the gap between research and real-world impact while advancing technologies aligned with sustainability and social progress.

Flint was selected as part of MIT Solve's 10th Anniversary Global Challenge. The 2026 Solver Class included 10 teams chosen from more than 1,000 applications across 110 countries. In addition to prize funding, Solver teams gain access to MIT Solve's network and resources to help scale their solutions.

E Ink also renewed the E Ink Innovation Prize for MIT Solve's 2027 Global Challenges, committing additional funds to continue supporting the next generation of problem-solvers. Applications for the 2027 Global Challenges are open through November 2, 2026.
