High Contrast Active Matrix Displays made with E Ink Pearl Imaging Film have a number of distinctive benefits over existing technologies. Commonly referred to as Electronic Paper Displays, EPD displays are reflective and can be easily read in bright direct sunlight or dimly lit environments while being able to be seen at virtually any angle - an experience that is just like paper.
The black and white ink-on-paper look, combined with a resolution in excess of most competitive display technologies, EPDs give the display an appearance similar to that of the most widely read material on the planet - newspaper. Because the display uses power only when an image is changed, E Ink High Resolution Displays have extended battery life over other types of displays. The unique technology also results in a compact and lightweight form factor making it ideal for highly portable applications.
 
E Ink Pearl imaging film is the latest innovation to the E Ink product line.  This display technology offers the world’s most paper-like reading experience with an improved contrast ratio by up to 50%, the industry’s best white state, and the lowest power consumption as expected with an E Ink display.  E Ink Pearl delivers enhanced readability.
